Speaking simulation - Outline

The Speaking simulation is an opportunity to experience a mock IELTS speaking test and receive feedback from an IELTS expert on your performance. During this simulation you’ll go through the Speaking test format and focus on what the examiner is looking for using the speaking band descriptors. After the mock test you’ll receive immediate feedback on your performance and have the chance to ask your IELTS expert any questions you may have. The simulation will help you understand what is required from this part of the test and make you more confident going into your speaking exam.

Details

  • Student level: approx. Upper-Intermediate and above (CEFR B2+)
  • Duration: 30 minutes - 15 minutes mock text and 15 minutes feedback from an IELTS expert
  • Content: Information about the IELTS speaking test, IELTS Speaking band descriptors and full mock test
  • Format: Virtual or face-to-face (depending on tutor availability)

Simulation outcomes

At the end of this simulation, you’ll be able to:
  • outline the main parts of the speaking test and what happens in each one
  • identify the 4 criteria that you’ll be marked against by the examiner and what you need to do to get the band score you’re looking for
  • understand your areas of strength and the areas you need to work on
