Writing simulation - Outline

The Writing simulation is an opportunity to experience a mock IELTS writing test and receive feedback from an IELTS expert on your performance. Before the simulation, you’ll complete a full writing test in your own time and submit this to our IELTS expert. During the session, you’ll receive feedback on your performance and have the chance to ask your IELTS expert any questions you may have. The simulation will help you understand what is required from this part of the test and make you more confident going into your writing exam.

Details

  • Student level: approx. Upper-Intermediate and above (CEFR B2+)
  • Duration: 1.5 hours – 1 hour writing test (to be completed before the session) 30 minutes of feedback from an IELTS expert
  • Content: Information about the IELTS Writing test, IELTS Writing band descriptors and full mock test
  • Format: Virtual or face-to-face (depending on tutor availability)

Simulation outcomes

At the end of this simulation, you’ll be able to:
  • outline the main tasks of the writing test and what is required for each task
  • identify the 4 criteria that you’ll be marked against by the examiner and what you need to do to get the band score you’re looking for
  • understand your areas of strength and the areas you need to work on
