PTE Academic- Course Outline

This is a course for students who are starting their PTE Academic journey and may not have taken an PTE exam before.

The course introduces you to some of the important skills and strategies you will need in each of the 4 parts of the PTE Academic exam – Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. It also aims to help you feel more confident about working towards your PTE Academic goal.

Details

  • Student level: approx. Intermediate and above (CEFR B1+)
  • Contact hours: 18 -36 hours, over 12-18 classes
  • Lesson length: 2-3 hours

Course learning outcomes

By the end of this course, you’ll be able to do the following in each skill:
    Listening
  • Identify the situation and answer the type
  • Use keywords to predict the answer
  • Identify synonyms and paraphrase
  • Outline the strategies for answering the following question types: Summarize, Multiple choice answers, fill in the blanks, write from dictation highlight incorrect words.
    • Reading
  • Skim and scan a reading passage
  • Predict content in a reading passage
  • Identify keywords and paraphrase
  • Outline the strategies for answering the following question types: Summarize, Multiple choice answers, fill in the blanks, Re-order Paragraphs.
    • Speaking & Writing
  • Personal introduction
  • Answer short questions
  • Re-tell lecture
  • Summarize
  • Read Aloud
  • Repeat sentence
  • Describe Image
  • Outline the structure of an essay

    You will complete 1 piece of writing before the start of the course. This is to help your IPTE expert understand your level of general writing. You will not receive any feedback on this.
